  • Instant oats: quick oats that are rolled and steamed longer and cut into even smaller pieces.

Glyphosate is an herbicide used in many agricultural crops. It was first introduced in the early 1970’s and is now the most widely used herbicide in the world, accounting for a significant portion of the global herbicide market. Glyphosate is a non-selective herbicide, meaning it will kill most plants. It prevents the plants from making certain proteins that are needed for plant growth. A wealth of other scientific studies have been performed to investigate the toxicity of this herbicide, which indicate that glyphosate is associated with various additional health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, obesity, senile dementia, inflammatory disease, thyroid and liver cancers.

A crop desiccant is a rapidly sprayed chemical that kills everything evenly and is highly suspect of being cancer causing. Many experts in the industry believe the use of glyphosate as a desiccant causes cancer.

In their pure state, oats are truly a gluten-free grain. However, if oats are grown, harvested, or processed with the same equipment as other grains that contain gluten, cross-contamination can occur. Here at Golden Prairie Oats, we take great care to ensure our oats are grown, harvested, and processed without the possibility of cross-contamination.

Quality inspections by third parties also ensure the crops are free from contamination by wheat, rye, barley and other related grains — and that the gluten-free product is, in fact, that. This is the only way to be totally sure that oats are safely free of even trace amounts of gluten.

The FDA limit for gluten free foods is 20ppm while the Golden Prairie Oats gluten specification is 10ppm maximum. We have made the decision to go with the lower limit of 10ppm or less because we want to provide the cleanest, safest gluten-free oats in the market. “Golden Prairie Oats feels the best way to assure that products are gluten-free is the use of a 3rd party 17025 approved lab.
